Nicole Richie Draws Inspiration From Jack The Ripper For Her Fall Winter Kate Collection

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) - Nicole Richie was best known as the wise-cracking sidekick to Paris Hilton for a handful of seasons of “The Simple Life.” But the mother of two is getting serious about design, as evidenced by new looks she’s debuted as part of her Winter Kate Fall 2010 collection.

Richie, who is currently promoting the new collection at department stores across the country including Nordstrom, gave InStyle a first look. The ready-to-wear designs, which include flowing mini-dresses and even a peacock-print blazer, were inspired by an unlikely source.

“My main source of inspiration was this movie called ‘From Hell,’” Richie told InStyle about the collection. “It’s about the Freemasons and Jack the Ripper so it’s definitely about that time period. We have capes and cigarette pants, vests, jackets and blazers. There are cleaner lines and it’s a lot more simple.”

While she claims the looks were inspired by the 1800’s murder tale, complete with top hats, the collection maintains Richie’s chic bohemian style. The looks from the new Fall collection will debut in the coming months.

Other pieces from the Winter Kate collection, taken from the middle names of her daughter Harlow, are currently on sale at online stores like Bloomingdales and Kitson.
