I must disagree about the theory of Kosminsky being Jack the Ripper being revealed in 2001.
It in fact came out in 1988 when criminologists and forensic scientists produced a film re-enacting original witness testimonies - 'The secret identity of Jack the Ripper' narrated by Peter Ustinov and featuring Jan Leeming.
It was also known that police may have mistaken his identity as the margin notes explained how he moved asylums and died the next day but in actual fact Kosminsky lived for a further 30 years.
This new information was abandoned and then researched years later this lead to the theory of another suspect. He too spent time in both the asylums at around the same time as Kosminsky and indeed died after his transfer, his name was David Kohan.
It was not Kosminsky who was identified by the witness.
It was in actual fact David Kohan who was thought to be Kosminsky.
