| Scotland Yard Won't Release Ripper Files The New American Using the strange excuse of compromising terror investigations, London's metro police refuse to release a list of informants in the unsolved case of Jack the Ripper. The Ripper murders occurred in 1888 in Whitechapel, a run-down section of London now ... COMMENT: Scotland Yard owes the world an apology for its intransigence on this issue. It is appalling that after 123 years, it continues to resist the disclosure of these important historical files. Or, is there something more sinister? Is Scotland Yard holding back these files because they reveal who the true Monster of London's East End really was and this would be embarrassing to the Establishment in London.
